I have always wondered where my officemate Archie gets his latest collection of Trance music, why every time a new book is out he always has a copy of its e-book version. And the crazy thing is that he says he gets all these cool stuff at no cost – absolutely FREE! Imagine his luck. Shit! He never really told me where he gets it though. And I never really asked.
It is not my thing to ask people for information. I always want them to volunteer it to me. As much as possible, I don’t want to owe anyone because I asked them to help me. However, if they give me stuff that I did not ‘directly’ ask – maybe I suggested it – then technically, I am not obligated to return the favor. It is a gift that I can freely choose to receive or reject. Simply put, I don’t believe in utang na loob and I don’t intend to pay someone a favor because I am indebted to him.
So there I was, on my own wondering, San kaya dinownload ni Archie yung bagong book ni JK Rowling?
You see, I like collecting information. I do it all the time. But I never solicit information. I am not a fan of solicitation. I want people to offer the information to me, because they trust me. And it is never my thing to break someone’s trust. Breaking another person’s trust is dishonorable. I can now hear my ex who’s reading this squirming and my friends snickering. LOL.
I like to listen. I love to analyze. I like to collect bits and pieces of information and come up with a reasonable conclusion or assumption from what I’ve gathered. It may take some time before I can deduce something substantial out of the bits of information I’ve pieced together. But that doesn’t matter. The experience of putting two and two together excites me.
I played an online text-based RPG game called Darkthrone (DT) a year ago. I even started a clan and became one of its Commanders. That’s where I met this guy who lives in NY. He is very friendly, and he’s not Filipino. He plays guitar and is an underground band member. He knows a few tricks about DT and wanted to help me boost my minion’s stats, so he shared his AIM id so we can chat to plan our attacks and offensive tactics. It is from him that I learned how amazing Google is. Before him, I only use Yahoo when I do online search. I didn’t know I was actually missing a lot.
It is in one of those Google searches that I accidentally stumbled upon www.Mininova.org, a torrent based download site where you can download music, anime, books, games, movies, pictures, software, TV shows and a lot more. At first I thought that I had to pay some amount to use the site, I was so wrong! THE SITE IS ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!
You can just imagine how big my smile was when I found out that the site is FREE MEMBERSHIP! I can’t wipe the big smile off my face – my dorm mates were telling me I look weird.
I kept on asking myself how it can be free. There is nothing free in this world, right? I just couldn’t believe my luck. Here’s the answer I found. Mininova doesn’t host the torrent files; it is actually a search engine for anonymously posted torrent files. Hahaha! So that’s why they’re not having problems on copyright issues. Haha! Galeng!
Here’s a quote from the site’s FAQ’s:
What is Mininova?
Mininova is the biggest torrent search engine and directory. We started in January 2005 as an alternative to the (at that time very popular) SuprNova, which went offline at the end of 2004 due to legal issues.
Our goal is to provide an easy-to-use directory and search engine for all kind of torrent files. Visitors of Mininova can anonymously upload torrents to this site, tracked by any BitTorrent tracker. Scrape data (amount of seeds/leechers) is collected a few times a day. Note that we try to keep Mininova family-safe, so adult submissions are not allowed.
Mininova is Mozilla friendly too. What I’m trying to say is that, if you’re browser’s Mozilla, you can actually install the Mininova search plugin in your browser. If you’re using the Firefox version 0.8 to 1.5, you can install the Firefox Menu Extention for Mininova. Click HERE to install the plugin and extension.
I am not sure if Archie downloads his freebies from Mininova. I don’t intend to find out. What I do know is that I now have a reliable source of FREE MOVIES, ANIMES and MUSIC! I don’t care if Youtubes is deleting the new anime videos that their members are posting. I seldom go to Youtube. That site doesn’t matter anymore. I now have Mininova.
I have to end this article now. I still need to download the latest episode of Heroes. 😛
