Turn Apart!

I’ve been with my current company for almost five years now. I worked for a bank before, I resigned because I felt I needed a work that can give me better compensation. I heard of a job opening in one of the buildings in Eastwood. I know nothing about working in a call center business. All I know is that agents who works for contact centers either receive or make calls, and of course are paid really well. I figured I should give it a try. And so the next day, I walked in G*********e and applied for work. I passed the interview with flying colors and was immediately scheduled for training the following week. That was the start of my long journey in the call center industry.

I’ve been with the same company for almost 5 years now. I started as an agent, got promoted several times until I became one of the respected Senior Operations Training Specialist. I am now looking for another promotion, as Training Supervisor for Operations. I’ve always loved working for my company and never did it cross my mind to really consider resigning. Yes I would think of resignation, but I’d usually fore go it for several justifiable reasons, one of which is that I am still very much happy with G********e. This was my mindset until I got a call from my former boss earlier today. He offered me triple of what my current salary is, and what he wants from me is to commit myself to his company full-time. He actually asked me to immediately resign, and he is giving me until Wednesday to finalize my decision.

I am seriously considering his offer. Although I must say that losing the 5 year experience I had with my current company is something to really consider. I soooo need somebody to give a really sound advice right now. Somebody? Help!

  1. Gaya nga ng sabi sa Today Show, “nobody nowadays works for 50 years in the same company.” If it would benefit your career further, eh di resign. (yun lang ang palagay ko, you still have to decide on your own though 😦 )

  2. Thanks Maruja. 🙂

I decided to stay with my company, no matter how big the offer is. I just don’t want myself to get ‘bullied’ by another company into accepting their offer. I figured that it is not worth joining a company who likes to bribe their future employees, it says a lot about the culture in that company. I know that it is a dog eat dog world out there, a jungle of carnivores, but hey if someone wants to prey on me, i’d rather be preyed on by a very fabulous dog.

I don’t mind getting bribed, but making me resign immediately, and not be able to do proper turn-over is something else.

I looked into the companies profile, and found out that it is a start-up. 🙂

  3. Well then, what do you want? is it money or do you want to stay in the same company out of loyalty and of course because of somebody who is making you happy? At the end of the day, it is you who will make the final decision. My advice is, you come and fly here to UAE and find a job that you really really like, your salary will be more than 300% times bigger that what you have been offered. PLUS THIS IS A GAY HAVEN…. UNKNOWN TO MOST PEOPLE. I tell you, I should know.
